Dr Velenkosini Matsebula
Senior Lecturer in Development Finance: Stellenbosch Business School
Dr Velenkosini Matsebula is a Senior Lecturer in Development Finance at Stellenbosch Business School, where he specialises in research areas including development finance, financial inclusion, SME finance, and economics. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of the Western Cape, with his doctoral research focusing on the macroeconomic dimensions of financial inclusion in South Africa. His work explores how expanding access to financial services can serve as a pathway to poverty reduction and inclusive economic growth.
Dr Matsebula is a frequent contributor to public discourse on development issues, writing for platforms such as Business Report and The Conversation. In his recent publications, he has advocated for leveraging innovation and digital technologies to drive inclusive growth across Africa. He also engages in academic collaborations across the continent, including a recent visit to the University of Ghana Business School to strengthen research and teaching partnerships. Through his academic and policy work, Dr Matsebula continues to champion financial inclusion as a cornerstone of sustainable development in Africa.
