SPEAKERS
Prof André Roux
Economist and Programme Head: Futures Studies, Stellenbosch Business School
Prof André Roux was the Director of the Institute for Futures Research at Stellenbosch University from 1996 to 2015. He now lectures in economics at Stellenbosch Business School and leads the postgraduate programmes in Futures Studies.
He has taught in South Africa, Mauritius, Namibia, Tanzania, Ghana, and more, and holds a PhD in Economics. He has authored over 150 publications, a long-standing economics textbook (14 editions), and facilitates foresight and strategy workshops across sectors. He has supervised six PhDs and was voted Best Lecturer at the Business School from 2016 to 2018. He currently serves on the Programme Accreditation Committee of the World Futures Studies Federation.
Vicky Hurynag
Head: Strategy, Research and Development – Mauritius Commercial Bank
Vicky Hurynag holds an MSc in Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics and has been with MCB since 1999. He currently leads the Strategy, Research and Development SBU, guiding the Group’s strategic direction, investor relations, and credit ratings.
He is actively involved in national economic discourse and has served on several advisory bodies. His insights are sought after in public forums and he brings deep knowledge of macroeconomics and banking strategy in the region.
Harry Coolen
Senior Executive – MCB Group
Harry Coolen brings over 26 years of experience in financial services. He holds an MBA in Strategy and Innovation and has led key roles across MCB’s international subsidiaries. He is passionate about enterprise development and inclusive finance, especially for women entrepreneurs.
His work has supported SME growth and access to finance in Mauritius and the region. He is known for his ethical leadership, governance focus, and impact-driven approach to banking innovation.
Hemandra Kumar (Sanjeev) Hazareesing
Hemandra Kumar (Sanjeev) Hazareesing is a highly regarded Financial Leader, with over three decades of expertise in Global Transaction Banking, Corporate Finance, and Strategic Operations.
Appointed Chief Operating Officer of MCB Group in June 2025, he previously spearheaded the Bank’s Global Transaction Banking division, shaping its international growth and client strategy from a product perspective.
Since joining MCB in 2004, he has held various senior positions in the Bank’s Corporate Banking department.
Recognised as a Thought Leader in Trade Finance as well as Cash Products, Sanjeev is also a sought-after speaker at Global forums, including SIBOS, the Global Financial Services networking event, the Global Trade Review (GTR), and the International Trade and Forfaiting Association (IFTA). Sanjeev regularly leads high-level discussions on Payments, Supply Chain Financing and Innovation at these high-level forums.
His leadership across complex markets and institutions has made him a key voice in the International Financial Services community.
