SBS alum Simphiwe Artwell Malaza appointed to FASSET Board
Stellenbosch Business School is proud to celebrate the appointment of alum Simphiwe Artwell Malaza to the Board of the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET). His appointment follows a formal nomination and selection process by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.
Simphiwe holds, among others, a Master of Philosophy in Development Finance from Stellenbosch Business School and is currently pursuing a PhD in Accounting Sciences. He has built an impressive career within South Africa’s skills development and financial governance landscape. As a forensic auditor, academic, consultant and entrepreneur, he has contributed significantly to strengthening internal auditing practices, development finance, youth enterprise development and financial governance across the sector.
“This appointment is both an honour and an opportunity to further support national priorities in financial skills development, transformation, capacity-building and good governance,” he says. “I look forward to contributing meaningfully to the Board’s oversight role and to strengthening partnerships across academia, industry and government.”
His nomination emerged after sector stakeholders recognised the alignment between his expertise and the strategic needs of the FASSET Board. Following a formal assessment under statutory appointment procedures, the Minister’s office confirmed his selection, with the new Board set to convene at the Annual General Meeting on 28 November.
Simphiwe’s leadership and commitment to public-sector strengthening exemplify the impact and influence of SBS alumni in shaping future-ready industries and advancing South Africa’s economic growth.
