Prof André Roux
Lecturer in Economics and Head: Futures Studies programmes at Stellenbosch Business School
André Roux was the Director of the Institute for Futures Research (IFR) at Stellenbosch University from 1996 to August 2015. André is now in the full-time employ of the US Business School, where he lectures on economics and is also the programme head for the School’s postgraduate programmes in Futures Studies.

Wessel Jooste
Shareholder and Executive Director at Ecotegrity Petroleum (Pty) Ltd
Wessel was born in Springbok and grew up in Brackenfell and Still Bay, matriculating from Oakdale Riversdale in 2001. In Johannesburg from 2002, he played rugby as a junior for the Gauteng Lions and played in France from 2004 – 2015. He is the founder of JAW consulting firm based on mixing business and sport, was part of the We4Growth group involved in farming development and irrigation, and co-founder of Ecotegrity Petroleum.
Drickus Hancke
Head: Rugby at Stellenbosch University
Personal statement: A fifteen-year professional sports career at the highest level shaped the values that lead me. Discipline, a strong work ethic, no excuses and a team-first approach are imperative to succeed in sports at a high level. These principles combined with a strong will to succeed form the basis of all my projects or endeavors. One of the sports teams I had to lead comprised of ten different nationalities; this has helped me leading and managing diverse teams in the workplace. I see myself as agile and I do enjoy learning which helps me to take on new challenges.
Ilhaam Groenewald
Chief Director: Maties Sport
Ilhaam Groenewald is currently the Maties Sport Chief Director as well as serving on a few representative boards and committees. Ilhaam joined Stellenbosch University in 2014 from the University of the Western Cape where she held the position of director of sport administration for more than a decade. Ilhaam is qualified with an Honours degree in business administration and a Masters degree in sports management. At Stellenbosch University she a representative on several committees such as the Employment Equity Forum, Institutional Transformation Committee and Senate. She is currently enrolled for her PhD at Stellenbosch University.
Gio Aplon
Former Springbok Rugby player
Gio Aplon made his Currie Cup debut in 2005. He represented Western Province and the Stormers franchises for nine years, which included winning the Currie Cup in 2012. In 2006, he won the Sevens World Series with South Africa, and cemented his name on the global stage. He made his Springbok debut in 2010 against Wales. When the 2011 Springbok Rugby World Cup squad was announced, the speedy wing was among those called up. After retiring from rugby, Gio has been applying his skills in Financial Management within the sports management sector.
Edward Heynes
Head: Innovation PMO at Heineken Beverages South Africa
Edward Heynes is an accomplished professional with over 25 years of corporate experience in strategy, project excellence and business transformation. Holding an MBA (cum laude) from Stellenbosch Business School, Edward has worked with the Alumni Office of the Business School on numerous projects for the last few years. He has a passion for social upliftment work in the NGO sector in the Western Cape since 2017. Most recently, as a founding member of FFG Sports, Edward’s reach extended into grassroots sports upliftment.
Noel Bastiaan
Chairperson: Boland Cavaliers
Noel Bastiaan hails from a family steeped in rugby tradition in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. He is an accomplished entrepreneur in the Agriculture Sector, having founded the largest black-empowered agricultural production and financial services company in South Africa. Noel currently serves as the Chairperson of the Boland Cavaliers, where he applies his commercial acumen and love for community upliftment to ensure a sustainable future for rugby in the Boland Region, from grassroots to professional level.

Bradley Habana, a proudly South African national, living a rainbow nation dream in the land of the sand, Qatar. An astute professional accomplished in the field of sports sponsorship. With over two decades of experience in the sports marketing, and sports commercial sponsorship industry, he has become a trusted expert in creating and managing successful partnerships and rights between sports organisations and corporate sponsors. One of his legacy sponsorships is the long-standing DHL sponsorship of Western Province Rugby and DHL Stadium.

Dr Edo Heyns
Strategic Development Director: Advini South Africa
Advini strategic development director. Dr Edo Heyns, is a leading South African wine expert and industry commentator. After studying viticulture and oenology at Stellenbosch University, he embarked a career in wine writing. As the editor of WineLand Magazine, South Africa’s most read wine publication, Edo gained a reputation as one of South Africa’s most respected wine industry commentators.
Naretha Ricome
Managing Director: Advini South Africa
South African-born Naretha Ricome studied political sciences at Stellenbosch University and economics at The University of Nîmes (Université de Nîmes), displaying an impressive aptitude for business across international and cultural boundaries. Her career in wine business management started in the South of France, most notably Châteauneuf-du-Pape. However, her passion for South African wines soon allowed her the opportunity to facilitate and eventually manage close collaboration between South Africa and France by spearheading the expansion of Advini to South Africa in 2009. Ricome is recognised as one of the most influential flag bearers for the South African wine industry and has played an important role to represent, sell and market South African wines on every continent.
