For many business schools around South Africa, the month of June marks the beginning of student intake for the 2023 academic year.

Similarly, we are gearing up for a busy enrolment season ahead.

A diverse, relevant portfolio of academic programmes is the hallmark of a reputable modern business school. This is because educational programmes are the vehicles through which institutions demonstrate relevance to industry and impart knowledge to their students. In addition, the changing world of work, digital transformation, and evolving consumers requires business schools to review their Programmes and Qualification Mix (PQM) constantly. At the Stellenbosch Business School, we take this responsibility rather seriously, as evidenced by recent changes to our PQM:

Postgraduate Diploma portfolio

Our postgraduate diplomas in Futures Studies, Development Finance, Project Management and Business & Administration recently underwent a complete redesign. New features include updated content, completion over two years, choice of modules, variety of specialisations, and reduced pricing.

Postgraduate Diploma Futures Studies Managing New Technologies

This is our latest addition to the portfolio. The programme combines the best of two worlds, futures studies and technology. The programme will help students understand the forces and trends shaping technological futures. Moreover, it will help students deal with current and future technological changes and respond appropriately to the increasing digitisation of services, products, devices and ways of working.

MPhil Development Finance

This popular programme has significantly changed after extensive consultation with industry, alumni and development finance practitioners. While the programme will continue to focus on enterprise-level interventions, financial technology (fintech) will feature more prominently in line with market trends.

PhD Development Finance

This popular programme is back after a year-long hiatus. Unfortunately, due to the high demand, places are limited.

Blended learning

Most of our programmes are now available via the synchronous blended format. To enhance the student experience, we continue to invest in new classroom technologies and apply the latest pedagogies.

MBA Health Care Leadership (MBA HCL)

I am delighted to announce that this programme now enjoys accreditation from the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA). It means health professionals registered with HPCSA can earn 60 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points through their studies. In addition, healthcare professionals will earn 30 CPD points (25 clinical points and 5 ethical points) per year of study.

The above changes are not exhaustive. Please refer to our website for more details.

While the business school already enjoys an incontrovertible reputation, our regular PQM updates demonstrate the school’s deep commitment to continuous improvement. However, we will never rest on our laurels, so look out for more future announcements.
