Our PGDip Project is designed around you

Our postgraduate diplomas give you the flexibility you need to study while you work. Your options include:

  • Join the blended learning cohort (online or on-campus) or modular cohort (on campus)
  • Study over 1 year or 2 years
  • Choose 4 of the 7 foundation phase modules based on the specialisation you desire
  • Change to another PGDip after Year 1 if you have the required foundation phase modules
  • Do a second PGDip by only doing the specialisation modules (50% of the credits of a completed qualification may be transferred to another qualification)

Why apply for our PGDip Project?

  • Acquire a scarce skill: Proficient project managers are in high demand. In a competitive environment, project managers must understand the context of strategy, business, projects, and operations.
  • Advance your career: This PGDip incorporates advanced management skills and strategic project management skills, allowing you to fill senior-level positions in any organisation. It is the only qualification of its kind delivered by a business school in South Africa. A natural progression would be our MBA with the Project Management focal area.
  • Use the PMI SA Chapter’s professional development activities to your advantage: The Business School and the Project Management Institute’s South Africa Chapter have signed a memorandum of understanding which holds various benefits for you: access to workshops, conferences, speaker events, research and collaboration, and outreach activities.
  • Study while you work: The flexible design of the programme allows you to choose the format (blended learning or modular) and duration (1 year or 2 years), making it easier for you to study while you work.
  • Gain access to an MBA: This PGDip is presented on NQF level 8, which corresponds with the entry-level requirements for an MBA in South Africa. Passed at a certain level, it can therefore provide access to an MBA.

Choose from two flexible learning formats

BLENDED LEARNING CLASSES MODULAR CLASSES

1-year PGDip:
Blocks 1 and 2

Foundation modules: 5 consecutive days of classes (with full orientation day in Block 1); Specialisation modules: 5 consecutive Wednesdays of late-afternoon classes

Blocks 3 and 4

20 once-a-week late-afternoon classes, alternating weekly between foundation modules and specialisation modules.

The blended learning classes are presented synchronously online (foundation modules) and combined online and on-campus (specialisation modules). If too few students choose to participate on campus, there can be a conversion to only online facilitation after deliberations. The late-afternoon classes are presented from 16:00 to 20:15 (short break included).

2-year PGDip:

Year 1: Foundation modules (2 blocks of classes for 5 consecutive days plus 10 once-a-week late-afternoon classes)

Year 2: Specialisation modules (20 once-a-week late-afternoon classes)

Advantages: Study while you work with the flexibility of digital class attendance, which means minimum time away from work, and less travel and accommodation costs.

1-year PGDip: Four full blocks of classes spread over the year - morning and afternoon classes from Monday to Friday. Block 1 runs from Monday to Saturday.

2-year PGDip: Four blocks of either morning or afternoon classes per year, from Monday to Friday. Block 1 runs from Monday to Saturday.

Advantages: Study while you work with in-class experience and focused studies without interruption from work. Working with your classmates in a face-to-face environment adds another dimension to collaborative (peer-to-peer) learning and network building.
